My sincere thanks to all the Rotarians for reposing immense confidence in me to
lead our Team 2980 in the year 2008 – 09. With your involvement and support, we
should definitely make it a wonderful Rotary year..
I would like to stress here that we should put in an earnest attempt to
translate the dreams of our RI President D.K. Lee into a reality. Emphasis is
laid on prevention of child mortality and personal hygiene. On our part at the
district level we have already mooted the idea of “Safe Drinking Water plant”
for the school children. This is one of the special dream projects which we
should accomplish together at any cost.
We have good quality members in all the clubs. It is our prime responsibility
to make them aware of the various Rotary programs. Involve them in all the
projects and make them feel important. Our Focus is to aim higher in terms of
membership growth to strengthen the Rotary in general and our District in
particular.
By this time you must have realized the importance of contributing back to
Rotary foundation and make it still stronger, so that good and unique matching
grant projects can be implemented. We should strive to donate a minimum of 100
$ per Rotarian in the District for the foundation. Added to this we also have
an equal responsibility to match the Bill Gates foundation towards Polio plus.
All this can be achieved only with your ardent cooperation.
At this juncture may I take the liberty of requesting you to send the RI and
District dues in time along with the mandatory subscription for rotary news. We
have tried to provide the best possible training to all the incoming officers
to handle the year successfully. A maximum of six seminars will be organised
besides the District assembly and District conference. I look forward to the
good participation for both the programs.
